Basismap is a web app for creating data-driven maps. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We collect the information needed to run Basismap and provide the service:

  • Account information: your email address, workspace name, plan, and sign-in method.
  • Map and project data: projects, layers, settings, uploaded files, pasted data, external data URLs, thumbnails, and exports you create.
  • Billing information: subscription status and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Basismap.
  • Usage information: basic analytics about visits and product usage, such as pages viewed, browser/device information, and referring pages.
  • Support information: anything you send us when you contact support.

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • create and secure your account;
  • store, render, and export your maps;
  • process subscriptions and plan limits;
  • send sign-in links, account messages, and transactional emails;
  • understand how the product is used and improve it;
  • respond to support requests; and
  • prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.

Your Uploaded Data

You keep ownership of the files, datasets, and map content you upload or create in Basismap. We use that content only to provide the service, including storing it, processing it into map layers, generating previews, and exporting maps.

Please do not upload sensitive personal information unless you are allowed to do so and understand the risks of storing and visualizing that data in a web app.

Third-Party Services

Basismap uses trusted third-party services to operate the app:

  • Stripe for subscriptions and payment processing.
  • Resend for transactional email.
  • Google for Google Sign-In and Google Analytics.
  • AWS S3 for file storage.
  • DigitalOcean for hosting.
  • MapTiler for map tiles and basemap data.

These services may process information according to their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and Analytics

Basismap uses cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, security, and basic analytics. Analytics helps us understand whether the product and website are working well.

Data Retention

We keep account, project, and billing records for as long as needed to provide Basismap, comply with legal requirements, resolve disputes, and maintain backups. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your account data where reasonably possible, subject to backups, logs, billing records, and legal requirements.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so you should use care when deciding what data to upload.

Your Choices

You can update account information from your account settings. You can also request access, correction, deletion, or export of your personal information by contacting us.

Children

Basismap is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice in the app or by email.
